This site is but a small snippet of my work.
Through many years travelling and developing my photography skills, through ever diversified outback and urban locations, a passion for capturing my surrounds grows from of my love for the Australian landscape. I seek out small, unseen details. Or fleeting moments of the wider landscape, amazing because it was able to be captured at just the right moment in time. I hope you enjoy my photos.

Its all about being in the right place at the right time, with your camera close by, which for me is half the battle. Was hard at work on a building site when i could see a looming storm front. Down with the tools and i ran off to intersect it. Lots of beautiful light and dark cloud contrasts and brooding intense energy.
Docklands of all places ( Light Play Part 2 )
The docklands still have no vibe. Thats official. But it has had what it think are some beautiful successes in the Landscape department. Lovely experiential places like this Casaurina grove, its a really isolating/insulating kind of feeling to be in the middle of these slender stems. And again here i was chasing the shadows.
Carlton Museum ( Light Play Part 1 )
Ah, sun does wonderous things to a life lived in the gloom. Its even better when it coincides with a day off, freshly charged batteries in the camera, and a desire to relook at some of the places i like to visit. The museum is an eternal favourite for the contrasts in colour and architecture against the expanse and majesty of the tall trees in the park. Winter seems to be great for casting these long shadows where a summer sun wouldn't. So i spent a whole day chasing shadows.
Queensland Beaches 2009. How do you tell a story of a most unforgettable discovery of Australia, yourself and your love of photography? In this very differing series it is through the small details within the sand on some of the most serene sandy beaches i have ever stepped upon. Maybe next time i will give you a greater visual of the Landscape, but this was the holiday that defined my interest in capturing the Detail. Not Macro, but not a Landscape. Uncomplicated compositions where the subject and its context tells a whole story of the micro climate, part of a greater whole, but rarely focused upon soley.

Epic Tasmanian Oceans
Tarkine Region Tasmania 2010. As an interlude to moving back from bush to city, i had a fortunate 2 week exploration to Tassies west coast. Apart from being greeted by sunny weather for most of the trip, the sights were something to really behold, especially the roar of this ocean. Whipped up by the roaring forties across seas uninterrupted until South America, the sound and sight of this ocean was incredible. Breakers to the horizon, sea spray, and a roar that could be heard kilometres away. On a very remote beach in the most beautiful of afternoons i captured this shot which about sums it up.
Towering High Above
Glasshouse Mountains Pine Forest Plantations 2009. Pine forest are another subject of fascination for me. A carefully crafted monoculture is an interesting thing to behold. The eeriness of a pineforest is something created from this monoculture, the trees so foreign even wildlife hasnt adapted to being within the forest, and hence it feels so quiet and you feel so isolated within the tall slender trunks.
Craving Desert Heat
Near Hay Plains NSW 2009. This felt like the hottest, most remote place i had ever been, and after driving 5 hours to be in the middle of it i begged for some sort of feature to break the horizon. Here it was, an endless link of powerlines, from where i dont know, to where i dont know. It just looked beautiful. My favourite industrial form, the powerline, marching across the most sparse and vast landscape i have even been in. Powerlines signify so much for me, and in this they act as proof of human desire and ability to conquer even the most remote of places.
Explorations Fitzroy
Fitzroy and Brunswick 2010. What with the amazing weather today, i cant say i feel jealous of these summer photos, but i'm sure tomorrow will be back to winter, then everyone will be happy to think of warmer times again. Always nice to explore quiet streets, and find quirks from an building era long ago. Solid and beautiful, i love that we have so many terrace houses in the quiet inner suburbs. That is all.
That ONE guy!
Bluesfest Byron Bay 2009. Flashback to a stunning series of performances at the 2009 East Coast Bluesfest, in Byron Bay. Of the hundreds of BIG bands, one humble quirky guy stole the show; That One Guy and his epic abilities on his home crafted 'magic pipe'. Swinging from metal to the grooviest beats and loops, no one was still or quiet, and just to be sure he had our full attention...how about card tricks....levitating hats and hey a magic boot as well. Hope he's back in Oz soon.
Windfarm Elegance and Beauty
Learmonth and Sandy Bay Windfarms 2009. I am absolutely enchanted by windfarms, both by the elegant, tall, luminously white structure they form in the landscape, but also to the important representation of some hope on the horizon of a progressive, non coal dependant future. These two Windfarms are located at Learmonth near Ballarat, and Sandy Bay, in East Gippsland.
Business Card Workings
First meaningful blog post - the getting myself out there in the wider world post. A 'facebook business' page came first, and its still the best for looking at a large collection of my work; Find it Here. But this will all look nicer in the end and hopefully you may come across it, feel free to linger, comment, or consider how something may look on your own wall....This week i have been playing with business card ideas, this is the main contender right now.
